Bob visited Lucia in Penang, the Tong Sampah Pearl of the Orient, together with his mates Irene and Mini. Upon arrival in Penang, they flagged down a trickshaw, and went their way off to Love Lane.

They checked into the presidential suite with jacuzzi in Lovers’ Inn and Health Spa, for the rate of RM 3000 per night.

As they were too eager to enter the room, they didn’t bother to pay at the counter. Instead, each of them took out RM 1000, paid the amount in cash to Menj, the conscierge who showed them the room, and let the conscierge bring the cash to counter.

At the counter, Lyn the cashier being kind and gracious, decided to offer them a discount. Thus she kept just RM 2500 and gave the remaining RM 500 to Menj, asking him to return it to Bob and company.

Menj thought that there’s no way RM 500 can be divided completely among the three, thus, evil Menj decided to pocket RM 200, and just give back RM 100 to each of Bob, Irene and Mini, and he did just that. Bob and company were very happy that they had a discount, and each of them happily put RM 100 back into their wallet.

Each of Bob, Irene and Mini had forked out RM 1000 and took RM 100 back, meaning that they have paid RM 900 each, or RM 2700 altogether. Add that to the RM 200 that Menj has pocketed without permission, it was still only RM 2900. So the question now, where did the remaining RM 100 go ?

p/s: on the good advice of Bob, wish to add a disclaimer that all names and accounts are purely fictional :-)

This is what my little bird emailed me recently, titled “What’s the point?”. How dare they are to ridicule our fundamentally pious guests of honours from the Holy Land?

Temasek, some call it $ingapore. Where East meets Wests. From Kuala Lumpur, it’s just a handful of hours by train. There are two points where the tracks of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) and $ingapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) meet, one near Kranji, another near Buona Vista.

I lived in a nice HDB block some time ago in Holland Village, overlooking the meeting point of two tracks. All the housemates except one are / were bloggers, including Pui, Finicky Feline and her sis. We constantly enjoyed the music of metal wheels running on the tracks, day in day out. At some point, it became part of your life.

Somehow, I missed it dearly, now that we are further a bit from the tracks.

Pretty blogger Siti Fadilah Omar, a sweet pramugari in Valuair and runner up of FHM’s Heartland Honeys 2003, has a nice picture of where KTM meets MRT in Holland Village. It has been syndicated in KTMRailwayfan’s gallery too :-)

Thanks for still remembering this day. I am so happy to get this greetings from you, meimei dear.

Oh yeah, you get to see how I look like, which is rare in this blog. The pic was taken outside a kopitiam in Jalan Telawi, the row where our Policy Research Institute (IKD) is located. That’s before Faisal Mustaffa and I went to shoot pictures of Anwar meeting DAP Chairman Karpal Singh at latter’s home in Jalan Buloh Perindu, on the afternoon of June 29th, 2005.

Still listening to the Tak Ingin Sendiri you sang for me. I must say it’s much more fantastic than Hetty Koes Endang’s version. Can I have more ?

Dearest all,

I have been away for a while. That’s why I stuffed my blog with writings by Dr. Farish Noor, Datuk Paduka Marina, Rustam Sani etc. As you may realise, all are on the more liberal side. Now, they have all been relocated into my Superb Stories archive, where you will find many more interesting articles.

What is Menj ?

Menj is not a Muslim but an Islamist.
Menj is forced to admit that the Quran acknowledges that.
Menj is okay with that in a “nomocratic Islamic state”.
Menj is like arguing with a five-year-old.
Menj is a “British Muslim”.
Menj is indirectly arguing that the Qur’an is not something that fell out.
Menj is working from within a very specific paradigm.
Menj is so full of crap.
Menj is his zeal for his chosen religion.
Menj is an APIIT student currently taking his degree in Computing and IT.
Menj is obviously a coward; I don’t care if he sells doughnuts in the Texas or pakoras on Bunder road in Karachi.
Menj is using racial slurs.
Menj is following one who truly is dreaming.
Menj is obviously lying when he says that Jesus’ career was cut short.
Menj is therefore guilty of reading his false Islamic presuppositions into.
Menj is seriously sparking up some fun here.
Menj is niether a liar nor stupid; rather he is just trying to salvage a bit of Osama’s integrity after this embarrassing event.
Menj is only requesting to issue an authorized Fatwa.
Menj is so frustrated.
Menj is thereby guilty of several fallacies.
Menj is wrong.
Menj is not a native speaker of English there is a certain probability that this formulation was due to his struggle with English grammar.
Menj is too hung up on being a Muslim.
Menj is sad that Fallujah mosques are being defiled with infidel Americans.

I was in Penang during the first week of July. Instead of the usual Kek Lok Si and Snake Temple which we gave them a miss, we had a jog to Muka Head lighthouse and other less visited attractions.

During our sightseeing in town, we inevitably came across huge roadside signboards bearing the slogan “Jagalah Kebersihan Pulau Kita“. Oh, we are on an island, the Pulau Mutiara, so we have to keep the island clean…

What about other places in Malaysia ? What kinda slogans should they use ?

For example, we have towns such as Sungai Petani and Bukit Mertajam. Should they put up “Jagalah Kebersihan Sungai Kita” and “Jagalah Kebersihan Bukit Kita” ?

What about Kota Bharu, Kuala Trengganu and Gua Musang ? “Jagalah Kebersihan Kota Kita”, “Jagalah Kebersihan Kuala Kita” and “Jagalah Kebersihan Gua Kita” ?

In Subang Jaya and Ampang Jaya [Subang = earrings and Ampang (empangan) = dam], could it be “Jagalah Kebersihan Subang Kita” and “Jagalah Kebersihan Ampang Kita” instead ?

As for Tanjung Malim and Teluk Intan, “Jagalah Kebersihan Tanjung Kita” and “Jagalah Kebersihan Teluk Kita” ?

In PM Pak Lah’s constituency, Kepala Batas, and the little town of Kaki Bukit near Thai border in Perlis, surely it would be “Jagalah Kebersihan Kepala Kita” and “Jagalah Kebersihan Kaki Kita”…

Federal Land Development Authority (Felda)’s first ever resettlement area was Lurah Bilut in Bentong, Pahang. Should we have “Jagalah Kebersihan Lurah Kita” ?

In Sarawak, sometimes rivers are named as Batang instead of Sungai, such as Batang Rejang, Batang Ai. There are also towns with the name Batang in peninsula, eventhough they might not mean rivers, for example Batang Berjuntai, Batang Benar and Batang Kali. Therefore, could we have “Jagalah Kebersihan Batang Kita” ?

Kepala and Kaki are parts of human body. As for Lurah and Batang, ermm… you know laa:-D

Through the ever hillarious Kurang Asam, I was introduced to the FaceAnalyzer website.

Try to input somebody’s picture and you will see a list of analysis, including who does his looks resembles.

We will use the photos of three very different types of bloggers, including an accidental RSF Freedom Blog winner, a Taleban Taman Melewar cacing and a shweet manicurist.

Sit back and enjoy…

You Are My Sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away

The other nite, dear,
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear,
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried.

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

I’ll always love you
And make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me
To love another
You’ll regret it all some day;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

You told me once, dear
You really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you’ve left me
And love another
You have shattered all my dreams;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

Louisiana my Louisiana
the place where I was borne.
White fields of cotton
— green fields clover,
the best fishing
and long tall corn;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.
Crawfish gumbo and jambalaya
the biggest shrimp and sugar cane,
the finest oysters
and sweet strawberries
from Toledo Bend to New Orleans;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You’ll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

p/s : Shin will be away to KL and Penang for some time. For the time being, please read the updates in Lyn’s blog.

from Lyn :

Tengah malam pasang pelita,
agar gelap menjadi terang,
mengapa lama tak dengar berita,
adakah kita dilupai orang ?

from Shin :

Mentari terbenam malam menjelma,
lelebah asyik kumpulkan madu,
di atas langit bintang dan purnama,
di dalam hati kasih dan rindu.

I have secured a global exclusive today.

I found that in the feature Winds of change in PAS? by Bridget Welsh in Malaysiakini today, the name of our Parti Keadilan Rakyat was mistaken for Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS), Indonesia. I am not sure if I was the first to notice it. But I emailed the editor to point out the error, and shortly after, I have pleasantly received a reply, saying that they thank me for the effort, and it had been corrected :-)

comparison of before and after

Okay, perhaps, it’s my scoop. But it’s not my big break, yet.

Regarding big breaks, I am still looking for mine. However, such opportunities our adorable si chomell Nore already have a few. There was even once when somebody telling us aunty wanted us to draft her a speech. What a durian jatuh ! I duly assigned this task to her as it’s too huge a mission for me. Anyway, it turned out to be a prank from someone who haboured ill feeling towards us :-(

We make peace not war. It’s better to have more friends than enemy. However, if somebody really wishes to bermusuhan with me, who am I to deny him his little gesture ?

Still on big breaks, perhaps I may get one by end of the year, if I look harder. Or perhaps I have read too many journalistic fictions. If there’s any vacancy in Wall Street Journal or New York Times Suara Keadilan or Harakah, tell me okay ?

Getting bored of the endless arguement between Rajan and Elfiefuddin ? Okay guys, this is what you have been waiting for. Paris Hilton, who is reported to be engaged to her boyfriend of five months, Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, is here to show you her petite milk bottles precious assets. Not as curvy as Siti Nurhaliza’s though. Click to view here, 18 sx :-)

By the way, I hope aunty president and puteri reformasi will keep their cool after reading this. I have just talked to the aspiring candidate for Kelana Jaya parliamentary seat. We both agreed that it would be the sure win weapon for us if we can invite Paris Hilton to attend our campaign. Watch out dudes !

Over the weekend, Budu has sent quite a few pages for me to learn English. On the other hand, new kind on the block, UTM postgrad Kian Keat from Province Wellesley have also shared with me a travel blog of his dream girl.
