What is my blog without politics ? I am sure you guys are hungry for my attack on baddies whose cruel intentions are to Talebanise Malaysia, aren’t you ?
The issues at hand is pretty much the same, on how to achieve a better Malaysia. For me, the solution is simple, but not the strategy. Solution will be, let Keadilan rules. But the question is, how ?
You know why everyone keeps notty BN in power ? Not because they like it, but, because they don’t wish to rock the boat by inviting in the wolf. The entrance of wolf will open up a pandora’s box, or to be more specific, a can carton of worms in which a lot of devils will come out, including religious discrimination, Hudud and Syariah. Coupled with corruption, human rights abuse, racial discrimination and moral policing that are already the order of the day, Malaysians will suffer another dark age.
Therefore, when we ask Malaysians to support reform, we must first alleviate their fear. The fear of a takeover by Talebans. And it is our responsibility to guarantee them such, else we should not blame them for not supporting reform.
Pas should realise what ball game it is playing. As for now, Keadilan wants to win elections by offering what Malaysians want. We will assure the people that corruption will be curbed, and human rights will be upheld, not the other way round.
However, Pas don’t. For Pas, what Malaysians want is neglegable. They only intend to run our country according to their interpretation of their God’s wish. They would insist on curbing our liberty by Hudud and moral policing, because according to their brand of fundamentalism, it is the wish of their God, never mind it infringes our human rights.
Therefore, with different aims, how can Keadilan and Pas cooperate efficiently ? It will be committing suicide for Keadilan to espouse box-office poisons such as Hudud and Islamic states. Fortunately, insyaAllah, party advisor Datuk Seri Anwar has repeatly stressed that Hudud and Islamic state are not Keadilan’s goals at all.
We in Keadilan knows how much affliation with Pas harms us. Our reputation and people’s perception on us are severely tainted by Hudud and Islamic state. It is Pas that doesn’t wanna let go of Barisan Alternatif (BA), because they need Anwar’s charisma to tell the voters that they are now more moderate and progressive, and hence, acceptable. In a way, yes, we too need Anwar to tell Pas to behave themselves and think for common benefit.
If Pas wants to maintain the cooperation, it must make the cooperation workable. First of all, it should stop haunting Malaysians with Hudud and Islamic state. I don’t mind they use these as the tool to win elections in certain constituencies, for example deep in the jungle in Kelantan and Trengganu, but it will be strictly a big no-no if they want to launch it on a nationwide basis on the BA platform.
As Pas Sec-Gen Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar has said in an interview with The Star, in the central government, the only way for Pas to rule is through coalition, so, unless agreed by all coalition members, its private agenda should never be part of joint manifesto. I guess this is a pretty good assurance that Hudud and Islamic state will not be a threat for Malaysians, at least at federal level ?
Now you know, Rajan Elfie, why did I keep that Datuk Kamaruddin interview, when even you a Pas fanatic didn’t ?
