Rajan Elfie the PIS supporter is PiSseD off by Bob’s statement,
I’d rather we spend more time strengthening each other and dealing with the immediate threat of BN and then creating a viable alternative that will capture the imagination and support of the majority Malay Muslim constituency from the grip of PAS’ ideology.
Therefore, the PiSseD off PIS supporter says,
What the HECK do you mean by “we spend more time strengthening each other and dealing with the immediate threat of BN and then creating a viable alternative that will capture the imagination and support of the majority Malay Muslim constituency from the grip of PAS’ ideology”? Do you mean to backstab PAS in the back by weaning our supporters away? We are probably the only party who actually take YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY. And you show this “appreciation” by back-stabbing PAS?
No, no HELL here, PIS aren’t in power yet. Not Keadilan backstabbing PIS the way PIS backstabbed Reformasi by introducing Dokumen Negara Islam (DNI). We thank PIS for all the years in BA (and the votes we lost thanks to DNI and Hudud).
Winning PIS supporters away ? Hmm, all Keadilan do is to offer another option, so those who dislike Umno need not be forced to vote Umno just because the only other option currently available is married to not only discrimination but torture, so the justice-seekers may support Reformasi without feeling guilty for supporting discrimination, torture and cruelty in the form of Hudud.
Offering another option is equal to advocating the cessation of PIS ? Unless Rajan Elfie is so insecure with the current PIS policies which he thinks will lose to Keadilan’s.
As for leading BA or otherwise, I have read the official statements that PAS sees everyone as EQUALS in the coalition. No one is “leading” anyone. If you want someone to “lead” you, then you just join BN-lah. Whats the point of talking about BA if PKR is not interested in fostering real cooperation with Pas??!!
EQUAL and not led by PIS, as displayed by PIS in introducing Hudud in Trengganu in the height of Reformasi ? Had discrimination and torture of Hudud, instead of justice and equality been the aims of Reformasi, why didn’t reformists just joined PIS en-bloc ? Why all the trouble to set up ADIL, three times being rejected a new party, and finally took over another Parti Ikatan ? But we cannot blame the PIS members you see, because had they been able to think, they wouldn’t have been in PIS in the first place
And now Keadilan is here, why would someone need to turn it into a PIS clone ? If we are seeking justice ala-Hudud, we might as well welcome democracy ala-China isn’t it ?
I still have faith in a BA which encompasses most if not all the political parties that uphold democracy, human rights, justice, freedom, meritocracy and equality, a BA that fights corruption, nepotism, cronyism, injustice, cruelty and torture, be it in the name of race or religion
Keadilan must be pragmatic and realistic. What’s the use being bogged down by Hudud, something rejected by the voters ? It’s akin to shooting oneself in the foot when we talk about justice and human rights.
The only reason why PIS needs Keadilan is to gain access to the wide support base of Anwar. Had Anwar been with DAP, PIS would court DAP too. Whether we need a partner by the name of PIS whose biggest contribution is to hijack and miscarriage Reformasi, you guess…

Shin was rather childish in her comments on the topic – constantly using the acronym PIS when referring to PAS. Her comment “we cannot blame the PIS members you see, because had they been able to think, they wouldn’t have been in PIS in the first place” is condescending. Denigrating the syariah, too, is not a way forward. She should realize that there are many people out there who are progressive but still believe in syariah. As a Muslim, it is my democratic right to want the syariah, and if we were to work together, appreciation of others is a must.

No doubt its a Muslim’s right. But Shin @ Jeffrey Lim is not talking about Syariah but rather he is talking about _interpretation_ of Syariah. As a non-Muslim, I can accept any _interpretation_ of Syariah that is compatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). For instance, the laws on murdering murtads are unacceptable as Muslims who do not want to be Muslims must have the right to leave. Also, Christians (or other religions) must have the right to freely propagate their faith to Muslims. This is free market economy after all.
Even Singapore, a non-Muslim majority country has Syariah law. Yes, Lee Kuan Yew’s PAP enacted a law known as “Administration of Muslim Law Act” or AMLA which governs Muslim family law (marriage/divorce/inheritance/zakat/khutbah). Muslims actually get special priveledges in Singapore as there is no Christian Law Act or Jewish Law Act.

Addendum:
Wan Saiful says:
“As a Muslim, it is my democratic right to want the syariah, and if we were to work together, appreciation of others is a must.”
Yes, it is your democratic right but your right has limitations as the UDHR clearly states.
Even Singapore, a non-Muslim majority country has Syariah law. Yes, Lee Kuan Yew’s PAP enacted a law known as “Administration of Muslim Law Act” or AMLA which governs Muslim family law (marriage/divorce/inheritance/zakat/khutbah). However, Muslims in Singapore cannot demand (1) death penalty for apostacy, (2) criminal laws. Why you may ask? This is because we cannot allow a Muslim criminal who rapes a non-Muslim woman to get away by Syariah, which lenient for Muslims who do crimes against non-Muslims.
This is why in Singapore, each religion has its own religious law for small issues like family (marriage/divorce/inheritance) and community (zakat) but criminal laws are standard for all religions.
